Rose

VT Dog Rescue saves dogs from high kill shelters in the South and finds them loving homes.

Rose

Rose was born on June 21st and raised in a loving home in MS. She was with her mom and 3 siblings. They are thought to be Blue Heeler mixes. Mom is staying with her family in MS. She looks like a Heeler (similar to Blue) and dad was a bigger dog with color/markings similar to Marshal and Rose. There is an interesting variety of colors and breeds in this family.

Once weened, the 4 puppies went into a foster home in MS and received lots of love before traveling to VT. Now, in one of our VT foster homes, Rose is thriving. As of 9/26, her weight is 14.5 lbs.

She’s crate trained and about 99% housebroken after just 3 days of living in VT. Rose isn’t super motivated by food at this point, but she does feel great when praised. That will come in handy when training her.

Her foster mom shared:

”In just the 3 days she’s been with us, she’s already caught on to potty training. She hasn’t had a single accident in her crate either. She has been sleeping through the night from 9;30 pm-5:00 am.”

”Rose enjoys walks and is getting good with the leash. When cars go by us, she sits by my feet to wait for them to pass all on her own. I didn’t even have to teach her to do that. Smart girl! ”

We do not provide DNA testing which is the only way to know with certainty which breeds are in their genetic background. Our best guess is that they are Heeler mixes. We expect them to reach 40-45 lbs as adults, but we can't guarantee size at maturity.

We highly recommend training classes for all of our dogs to get everyone off to a great start. Training recommendations are available.
