Calcutta FAQ
VT Dog Rescue saves dogs from high kill shelters in the South and finds them loving homes.
What is a Calcutta Fundraiser?
How does this Calcutta work?
Balls numbered 1 – 98 are placed in a machine and are drawn out 1 at a time. We will be raffling off balls #99 and 100 the night of the event.
We will pay $100 for the 1st, 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, and 90th ball that is drawn OR provide the option to put the ball back into the machine for the Grand Prize. If your ball is drawn outside of those winning slots, you are out of the running for the $3,500 Grand Prize..
The Final 10?
Once we have 10 balls left, the chances of winning the jackpot of $3,500 is 1 in 10. This is a special group to be part of.
At any time prior to the next ball being pulled, the finalists can agree to split the jackpot and the event ends, but this decision must be unanimous. If not unanimous, then a ball is pulled and that person loses their chance to win. This continues until the finalists all agree to split or there is only 1 person left. The final person wins the Grand Prize of $3,500.
Raffle Balls?
Two balls are pre-selected and NOT placed in the machine at the start of the event.
Once the 50th ball is pulled, one of the raffle balls is raffled off and placed in the machine giving that person a 1 in 50 chance of winning.
Once the 90th ball is pulled, we raffle off the final remaining ball giving that person a 1 in 10 chance of winning.
Silent Auction:
In addition to the Calcutta, we are offering a silent auction that ends prior to The Final 10. The auction winners are announced and winners will go home with their prizes.
